Some artists are good at capturing subtleties. They observe the places sensibly and capture in such a way that they are excellent enough to draw a picture as it is. Lee Me Kyeoung is a South Korean artist who is in the habit of observing and unfolding corner shops into illustrations before they close and disappear from the communities.
Lee Me uses a delicate pen and presents these illustrations on a white background very realistically. Even the most subtle and isolated subjects are contained in her drawings, the front piles of buildings, illustrated fruit boxes, small flowers, etc. are also included with details. Many places are being demolished for new developments and she has taken this initiative as these need to be nurtured for the memories of the communities. In addition, people gathered around these corner shops and communicated each other sitting over wooden benches under the Zelkova trees were also showcased in her presentations. These old and shabby shops have been a part of everyday life of these people and we can see those drawings even during winter, spring, summer and autumn.
