“Kirie” is the Japanese traditional art which in the fullest sense of the word is called “Cut Picture”. Here, you can see the differences in the diversity of different cultures around the world, and according to the Japanese version of history, this is said to have originated from religious festivals and can be traced back to 700 AD. Furthermore, the art has evolved over time with various Japanese traditions. Kirie is a very complex art, in some cases, it can take months for a single creation.

Using the natural environment as a backdrop, the talented Japanese kirie artist Erica (@Erica_kirie) has been gaining popularity by presenting beautiful designs on social media, providing an opportunity to learn and explore this art from Japan to the strangers in all over the world. She always animates these kirie creations, using naturally occurring materials such as sunlight, shiny green foliage, colourful flowers and dry leaves as the background for her creations.
