Peter Callesen is a Danish artist whose work involves uplifting modern paper art. He creates sculptures from ordinary papers that can bring viewers into an imaginary world. Although paper art has been there for so long, it never gets monotonous because of artists like Callesen. He is always experimenting with ordinary papers to explore the depth of paper art.

Callesen creates sculptures from ordinary papers by combining them with a meaningful background. As an example, the little bird on the military jet conveys the importance of keeping the world at peace. He uses a piece of white paper, cuts out a particular shape and uses the paper with the hole as the background. This wonderful artist doesn’t even waste the space under the sculpture. He utilizes it to enhance the overall value of the art.

These sculptures allow you to feel peace through their beautiful design and teach you about reality, nature, and humankind. The “sculptures from ordinary papers” collection includes a sculpture of a skeleton lying on a surface. Callesen used a piece of torn paper, a basket, and a paintbrush that were also created from paper as background. It seems this artwork emphasizes the effort humankind takes to bring colours or meaning to their lives. However, the saddest part of it is that they don’t even realize that they have spent their entire lives doing it yet have to leave the world behind without achieving their ultimate target.

Apart from small-scale artworks, Callesen’s talent expands to large-scale sculptures as well. Even though the size of the sculpture differs, the value and meaningfulness he adds to those creations remain the same.
