Italy has been facing a big problem because its rural towns have not had enough population for the past few years. This problem has caused many rural Italian villages to become semi-abandoned. However, street art in Italy could find a solution to this problem.  CVTa Street Fest has been changing the view of Civitacampomarano town located in the Molise region, Central Italy for the past nine years.

Civitacampomarano was also facing the same problem of depopulation until street art in Italy gathered artists from all around the world to enhance the beauty of the village. This street art festival was founded by artist Alice Pasquini in 2016. Since his family is related to this beautiful town, he didn’t want to see it becoming isolated over time. CVTa Street Fest happens every year for a few days to decorate the street walls with enchanting street art.

This year, well-known artists, Snik, Dimitris Trimintzois, Octavi Serra and Anders Gjennsted contributed to this festival. By today, this festival has created a massive 70 pieces of public art. It is not solely the effort of artists, but a collaborative effort of the villagers, artists and visitors.

Dedicate Their Art To Pay Homage…

Snik is a duo from British. They decided to dedicate their art to pay homage to the Civitacampomarano’s villagers. The woman, who holds flowers and leaves on her head symbolises the everlasting bond between locals and nature. Even though the part of the town where this art piece is located, has fallen apart over time, remaining locals have never left their homes. Dimitris Trimintzois, AKA, TAXIS, painted an eye-catching portrait of a girl on the side of a large building using a vivid colour palette. Since this location is on a hill, the painting perfectly blends with nature and the sky, especially at sunset.

Meanwhile, Spanish artist Octavi Serra added his exceptional artwork to this collection of street art in Italy. He arranged out-of-box installations to guide visitors and add extra meaning to this festival. Anders Gjennsted contributed by creating an art piece from his “A Tale of Two” series. The motivation behind the series is to establish profound qualities like affection, trust, and acceptance within people. Most of his paintings visualize two people hugging each other.

Visitors who participate in this festival enjoy each one of these wall paintings while witnessing the beauty of this Civitacampomarano village.
